How does Uniswap work?

Liquidity pools are created by users who deposit their cryptocurrency into a joined fund that can be used for exchanges by anyone. Each supported token has its own pool and the token price is determined from an equation that is derived from many factors of the pool. When you deposit a token to the pool, you must also add the same amount of ETH. Depending on the transactions that are happening within the pool, your token and ETH value may change, but the total deposit will always stay the same. For example, if someone wants to trade a token for ETH, your deposit of that token will increase while your ETH deposit will shrink.

Users who contribute their assets to the pool are called liquidity providers or LPs. As a reward for contributing liquidity, they receive a token which represents their staked funds. When the user withdraws their funds from the pool, that token is used to access the trading fees they will receive.
