About Brent Crude Oil

Brent crude oil is a light, sweet, low-sulfur crude oil produced in the North Sea (between the UK and Norway). It is considered the core benchmark price in the global crude oil market and is widely used to price oil shipped from the Middle East, Africa, and Europe to the West. Its quality is stable, with an API gravity of approximately 38° to 39° and a low sulfur content (approximately 0.37%), making it ideal for refining gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. It serves as a "leading indicator" for international oil prices and, along with US WTI (West Texas Intermediate) crude oil, is one of the two most important global crude oil pricing standards. More than two-thirds of global physical oil trade is priced directly or indirectly based on Brent crude.
