Key highlights:

  • Wyoming has adopted Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve to verify FRNT stablecoin reserves onchain
  • The state plans to add Chainlink’s Secure Mint feature to ensure FRNT is fully backed before new tokens are issued
  • LINK remains under pressure despite Wyoming’s adoption of Chainlink

Chainlink has marked another major milestone as Wyoming expands its partnership with the blockchain oracle network to improve transparency for its FRNT stablecoin. According to the latest report, the Wyoming Stable Token Commission has integrated Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve technology to verify the assets backing FRNT in real time.

Wyoming strengthens FRNT stablecoin transparency with Chainlink

As revealed by Chainlink via an official X post, the Wyoming Stable Token Commission has adopted Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve for on-chain verification of the assets linked to FRNT, the first fully reserved, fiat-backed stablecoin to be issued by a US public entity. The post read,

“The Wyoming Stable Token Commission adopts Chainlink Proof of Reserve to set a new United States standard for digital asset transparency. Via Chainlink, FRNT exceeds GENIUS Act requirements & becomes the first stablecoin issued by a U.S. public entity to publish verified reserve data onchain.”

In August, Wyoming had revealed plans to migrate FRNT from LayerZero to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). The latest move builds on this development, further strengthening the stablecoin’s security and transparency with onchain reserve verification.

Moreover, Wyoming intends to add Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve Secure Mint feature to FRNT. The feature would help ensure that the token has enough verified reserves to cover its total supply before new FRNT tokens are minted. This adds another layer of protection for FRNT. The move could also prevent the stablecoin from being minted without sufficient reserves.

How will the reserve verification work?

Notably, the new system will combine independent reserve checks with Chainlink’s onchain technology. The Network Firm will examine FRNT’s reserves and total token supply under AICPA standards. At the same time, Chainlink Proof of Reserve will make the verified information available onchain in almost real time.

With this move, regulators, institutions, and investors need not depend on periodic reserve reports to understand whether FRNT is fully backed. The onchain data provides a more updated view of the assets backing the token. Anthony Apollo, Executive Director of the Wyoming Stable Token Commission, noted,

"Wyoming has consistently led the nation in advancing responsible digital asset innovation. By adopting Chainlink Proof of Reserve as Wyoming's exclusive onchain asset verification infrastructure, we're providing transparent, verifiable confirmation that the Frontier Stable Token is fully backed by high-quality reserve assets. This strengthens trust in FRNT while establishing the highest standard for transparency in public-sector digital assets.”

LINK price fails to show a positive response

Usually, such huge developments could act as a positive catalyst for the related cryptocurrencies. But here, the story is different. Despite Wyoming’s adoption of Chainlink for its FRNT stablecoin, the LINK price hasn’t shown any bullish reaction.

The token continues to stay in the red zone, with the price exhibiting slight movements. As of press time, LINK is trading at $11.14, down by around 1.2%. However, the token has seen a notable rise of 37% over the past month, despite a 2.5% weekly drop. This indicates that the Wyoming development failed to push the price higher in the short term, while it is still maintaining strong monthly gains.
