Key highlights:

  • The GTA 6 leaker reportedly launched CYBERLEEK, a Solana memecoin tied to the leaked gameplay
  • CYBERLEEK briefly reached a market cap of around $25 million before the apparent sell-off
  • Blockchain investigators estimate the hacker’s total cash-out exceeded $250,000

The hacker behind the recent Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leaks launched a Solana memecoin called CYBERLEEK, which briefly surged to a market cap of $25 million before crashing. The hacker began cashing out his token holdings just hours before Rockstar Games was supposed to officially reveal GTA 6 gameplay.

Onchain data on Thursday revealed that the wallet linked to the hacker sold its remaining CYBERLEEK tokens for about $125,000 in SOL. At the same time, the total proceeds of his sales have reached $250,000, as per estimations.

GTA 6 leak turns into a crypto profit play via CYBERLEEK memecoin

The anonymous GTA 6 hacker is now utilizing the attention around the game to make crypto profits. Over the past nine days, the hacker has been sharing unveiled GTA 6 footage, while also promoting a Solana-based memecoin called CYBERLEEK.

Notably, the leaked videos included the CYBERLEEK name with a message, “higher market cap = more leeks.” Initially, this strategy worked well, which reflected in the memecoin’s significant growth within a short period. CYBERLEEK’s market cap surged to around $25 million on August 23.

However, the rally did not last long as the GTA 6 hacker changed his strategy. According to blockchain data, the creator withdrew nearly $146,000 worth of wrapped SOL and received 15.4 million CYBERLEEK tokens in creator fees on Thursday. The wallet then sold its entire allocation for about $125k worth of Solana tokens.

Hacker cashes out ahead of GTA 6 gameplay reveal

What makes the move more notable is that it came just hours before Rockstar Games was expected to officially unveil GTA 6 gameplay. The game has been in development for more than a decade, and is the gaming industry's most highly anticipated upcoming release by far. This remarkable attention surrounding the title has made the sell-off much more noteworthy, adding another twist to the ongoing GTA 6 leak saga.

Following the video leaks, Rockstar has addressed the situation publicly. The company stated that the leaks were “heartbreaking for the team.” They also expressed apologies to the community looking forward to experiencing the game. The team also didn’t confirm any connection between the leaked videos and the CYBERLEEK memecoin.

CYBERLEEK money trail leads to KuCoin

Meanwhile, the movement of CYBERLEEK funds has caught attention. According to blockchain investigators, the memecoin proceeds were spread across four newly created wallets following the apparent sell-off. Reports reveal that about 91 SOL was sent to KuCoin.

Neither the GTA 6 leaker nor the crypto exchange has confirmed the reported figures or the identity of the wallets involved. But the transaction explains how quickly online hype can turn into speculative trading activity.

GTAForums investigator “Vice Cit” traced the transactions, finding that the creator fees were split fairly evenly between three different destinations. One of them was the privacy-focused CCE.Cash, which makes it difficult to track the funds’ further movements.
