Key highlights:

  • Phantom will end its support for the Sui blockchain on September 24, 2026
  • Users can either convert their SUI tokens or move them to another compatible wallet
  • The team urges users to be cautious during the transition period

Phantom is preparing to end support for the Sui blockchain on September 24, 2026. This move gives users time to move their SUI tokens to another wallet or convert them before the support stops. While Phantom added support for Sui in 2025 when the Layer 1 blockchain gained significant traction, it is now moving away from the network as its activity and market value have declined.

Phantom pulls back from Sui as network activity drops

According to the latest reports, the Sui blockchain will not be supported on Phantom after September 24, 2026. The decision comes as Sui has lost its initial momentum. DeFiLlama data reveals that Sui’s Total Value Locked (TVL) has decreased to $470 million from last year’s $2 billion.

This indicates that Phantom is stopping support for Sui as the network struggles to maintain the momentum it gained in 2025 when it saw strong growth in activity, liquidity, and price growth.

“Phantom and Sui have decided to end Sui support on Phantom on September 24, and leave open the opportunity to explore other collaborations in the future.”

Notably, when Phantom embraced Sui in January 2025, the latter reportedly had around 15 million monthly active users. The SUI token was also trading at its all-time high of $5.36 at that time. But now, the token has significantly plummeted to trade at a low of $0.83, with its market cap at $3.4 billion.

Why is more time given?

Significantly, the September 24 deadline was meant to give users enough time to act before the Phantom support ends. The platform has given two options for the users. They can either convert their assets or move them to another compatible wallet before the date.

If users want to continue their activities on Phantom despite the latest move, they can convert their SUI holdings into wrapped SUI on Solana. For this cross-chain conversion, the platform will not charge its own fee, but network or exchange fees will still be applicable. Users can also swap their assets into other tokens like SOL, ETH, or USDC.

At the same time, users who wish to keep their SUI tokens on the Sui chain should move their wallet to another compatible platform. They can find their recovery phrase in the wallet settings and use it to access their assets through another supported wallet. As per the company’s recommendation, Slush is a suitable option.

What happens to SUI after Phantom support ends?

Interestingly, Phantom has clarified that ending support for Sui doesn’t actually mean that users will lose their tokens. The assets will still be stored on the Sui blockchain, but not inside the Phantom wallet. Thus, users will still be able to access their SUI tokens even after September 24 if they either converted or moved their assets.

This indicates that the latest move doesn’t create unnecessary uncertainty or panic. The company has already given enough time for users to make their own decisions. Phantom has also cautioned users to stay alert during this transition. The platform clarified that it will not contact users for this process, adding that they should never share their recovery or seed phrase with anyone claiming to offer migration assistance.
