Key highlights:
- Hyperion’s treasury business posted a sharp profit jump in Q2, with earnings tripling from Q1
- The surge is linked to HYPE’s price surge and Hyperion DeFi’s heavy accumulation during the quarter
- However, HYPE price has waned in recent days, casting doubt over the profitability of Hyperliquid treasury firms
Hyperliquid treasury company Hyperion DeFi has reported a record $31 million net income for Q2 2026, tripling the $8.8 million it posted in the first quarter of the year. The gains are tied to HYPE’s strong performance in 2026 and steady accumulation by Hyperion DeFi but it is unclear if the winning run will continue in Q3.
HYPE treasury drives earnings for Hyperion DeFi
The company recorded its second straight record-quarter gains after doubling down on its HYPE treasury strategy. Hyperion’s HYPE holdings increased during Q2 from 1.94 million tokens to 2.04 million at June 30.
According to the latest disclosures, the value of its gross HYPE holdings climbed to $F132.6 million from $71 million after a price spurt. At the end of Q1, HYPE traded at $36.60, rising to $65 by the end of Q2, boosting earnings for the Hyperliquid treasury company.
The Nasdaq-listed company also reported $53.7 million in adjusted EBITDA, up from $19.5 million in Q1. Per the numbers, adjusted gross profit increased 20% quarter over quarter to $1.15 million, while operating expenses fell by 21% from Q1.

“In our twelve months of operating performance, we have redefined what it means to be a digital asset treasury,” said CEO Hyunsu Jung. “Not only have we substantially grown our treasury position in HYPE, but we have launched multiple scalable businesses and built new products and services on Hyperliquid, all while reducing our costs over time.”
Hyperion has described its strategy as more than accumulating HYPE, revealing plans to generate additional income through staking and other applications across the Hyperliquid ecosystem. Right off the bat, the company has committed 1,000,000 HYPE for staking, split between incoming HIP-3 deployer Entropy and Skew Technologies.
Following the earnings release, Hyperion DeFi stock soared by 5% in after-hours trading. Back in June, a report disclosed that Hyperliquid treasury firms remained in profit while companies holding Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) on their balance sheets recorded large paper losses.
Will the HYPE rally fuel bigger gains in Q3?
While HYPE’s price surge has contributed to Hyperion DeFi’s massive quarterly gains, there are concerns that Q3 will not yield impressive numbers. For starters, the HYPE rally has waned in recent weeks, with prices trading 25% below its all-time high of $76.85.
In addition, Hyperliquid ETF inflows have slowed down, fueling speculation among traders that another meteoric rally is far off. JPMorgan described the slowing ETF inflows as linked to rising competition from regulated US platforms and prediction markets.
After HYPE hit its all-time high in Q2 2026, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao hailed Hyperliquid’s unique market positioning. However, CZ urged the project to “get good lawyers,” hinting that authorities can launch a probe into its operations, potentially triggering a raft of legal troubles.
