Key highlights:
- The LTC price is testing a key resistance trendline ahead of a potential breakout.
- The LTC price is above the 4-hour SMA 100, with RSI favoring buyers.
- Litecoin's 2027 halving and Q4 2026 LitVM launch remain key catalysts to watch.
Litecoin is again at one of its toughest technical hurdles after several months of recovery from its recent lows. Despite the significant rebound witnessed, the LTC price remains significantly 89% away from its record high of $412.96.
However, this has not deterred traders from monitoring its prices, and according to ZAYK Charts, the Litecoin price is nearing a crucial level of resistance that could see buyers pushing for a more aggressive move to the upside in case it breaks above the current hurdle.
In addition, Litecoin price is getting close to two important events: 2027 Litecoin halving and the expected Q4 2026 launch of LitVM, bringing smart contracts to Litecoin.
The LTC price is testing a key breakout level
ZAYK Charts believes Litecoin is approaching one of its biggest breakout attempts in months. The daily chart shows the LTC price pushing against a descending resistance trendline that has turned back previous recovery rallies.

We had a look at his chart, and the larger trend still shows the impact of last year's sell-off. The LTC price dropped from around $147 to the low-$40 range, losing roughly 70% to 75% of its value during that move. Despite that, the pattern of lower high and lower low still persists, meaning that it will require buyers to confirm a breakout for the outlook to improve.
The first resistance level is $43.50, while $51.50 and $59.50 follow suit. However, a move above $67.50 would signal that buyers managed to break the long-term downtrend. If the breakout fails, support remains around $35.50, followed by $27.50, with the final major support near $19.50.
Litecoin short-term momentum is improving
The shorter timeframes are painting a more encouraging picture. We had a look at the 4-hour chart, where LTC is currently trading around $47.10. This implies that the cryptocurrency is trading 4.1% above its 100-period simple moving average of $45.26. Also, the simple moving average has been rising, confirming that the buyers have maintained control of the market.
The momentum is in favor of buyers and not in the extreme levels. At the 4-hour time frame, the RSI is at 53.74, which is above the level of 50 mark. That points to steady buying pressure, though the market still has room before entering overbought territory.
Resistance level is seen at $47.31, then at $48.00 and $50.00. Beyond those levels, it is seen at $52.00. On the other hand, first support is at the 100-period SMA around $45.26, then $44.00 and $42.00. On the daily timeframe, more signals are needed for the bullish case to hold. The current level of the 100-day SMA is at $49.52, which is 4.9% away from the LTC price.
There is another positive sign worth watching. The daily RSI has climbed to 61.05 after spending months near oversold territory. Even more encouraging, RSI has continued making higher lows even as price printed lower lows, creating a bullish divergence that often appears before larger recoveries.
On-chain data shows the LTC market is stabilizing
The on-chain picture lines up with what the charts are showing. Litecoin market capitalization decreased from approximately $3.68 billion to $3.46 billion, with a drop of 6%. Funds continue to flow out of the network, but at a much slower pace than at the previous stage of correction.
The situation in general looks challenging. Litecoin market capitalization still remains well below the level of approximately $26 billion seen in 2021. This is also clear from the drawdown information, which shows that Litecoin remains down 88.55-89.15% from its ATH and is one of the worst hit large-cap cryptocurrencies in this cycle.
Despite everything else, however, the Litecoin price held between approximately $35-$47 and did not drop further. That stability could become the base for a stronger recovery if buyers continue defending support.
Bigger catalysts are getting closer
Litecoin's charts are only part of the story. The next halving for the network will happen on July 27, 2027, when the mining reward will be reduced from 6.25 LTC to 3.125 LTC per block, thus reducing the pace of issuance of coins by 50%.
Past trends show that each cycle of Litecoin has usually begun recovering six to twelve months prior to halvings. If the trend is going to repeat itself, the investors would start preparing much before the halving happens. The second factor is LitVM, Litecoin's zero-knowledge Layer-2 network to enable EVM-compatible smart contracts.
The mainnet is expected in Q4 2026 after the testnet processed more than 75 million transactions. If developers begin launching decentralized applications through LitVM, Litecoin could expand well beyond its traditional payments use case.
Litecoin has also ensured compliance with the MiCA framework of the European Union, thus making Litecoin even more secure from a regulatory perspective in terms of one of the largest cryptocurrency markets of the world. However, it is still competing with stablecoins and other emerging blockchain networks for payments.
What comes next for the LTC price?
The LTC price has reached an area that could decide its next major move. The daily chart shows Litecoin testing a resistance zone that has blocked previous recovery attempts. A confirmed breakout would bring $51.50, $59.50, and eventually $67.50 into focus. ‘
The shorter timeframes already favor buyers, with price trading above the 4-hour SMA 100 and momentum remaining positive. The daily chart still needs one more step. Buyers need to reclaim the 100-day SMA at $49.52 before the broader trend can begin turning in their favor.
CoinCodex's 1-month LTC price forecast places the LTC price at $46.45, indicating a largely neutral outlook from current levels as Litecoin tests key resistance.
