Key highlights:
- Cardano has completed the Van Rossem hard fork via community vote
- The upgrade moved the network to Node 11
- The ADA price has hit a nearly two-week high in response to the development
The Cardano blockchain has entered another chapter with the completion of its Van Rossem hard fork. The network has now successfully transitioned to Node 11, moving closer to its goal of fully decentralized governance.
Historic milestone achieved. ⛓️

Cardano completes Van Rossem upgrade
The Cardano ecosystem has been upgraded through the Van Rossem hard fork. The upgrade shifted the network to Node 11. Representing a major step in Cardano’s vision of decentralized governance, the development has also brought better performance and technical improvements.
It is worth noting that the upgrade doesn’t introduce significant new features. Instead, it focuses on improving network performance, stability, and validator operations. But it is impressive that Cardano’s governance model is able to handle major protocol changes without a centralized authority like Input Output Global.
Community takes control of network upgrades
What is more surprising about the Cardano Van Rossem hard fork is its approval. The decision to activate the protocol upgrade was made entirely by the community through the network’s on-chain governance system. This marks the first time in Cardano’s history that an upgrade has been finalized via community voting.
Previously, similar network upgrades had been led by Input Output Global, the Cardano Foundation, and Emurgo. But now, the Van Rossem hard fork was decided by ADA holders and stake pool operators. Following a community vote, the proposal got approved with the required support from participants.
How does the upgrade influence the ADA price?
Notably, the Van Rossem hard fork helps ADA holders to a larger extent. In addition to earning rewards, staked ADA holders are now more powerful in the ecosystem. They have more voice in shaping the ecosystem’s future. With Cardano advancing through its Voltaire era, community members play a large role. They can decide future upgrades, network parameters, and ecosystem developments.
The Van Rossem activation has also helped improve investor confidence, with ADA hitting a nearly two-week high. Cardano's native coin currently trades at $0.1767, with a rise of 7.9% in the last 24 hours.
However, it is still unclear whether the current ADA price rally will sustain. The overall technical outlook is positive. The next major hurdle is resistance near $0.18.
On the other hand, if the token fails to move past this level, it may enter a consolidation phase. Here, it is expected to trade between $0.165 and $0.18. If the altcoin slips even below this range, a deeper negative trend could emerge.
