Ondo Finance has emerged as one of the crypto market's top performers after announcing a milestone partnership with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), a move that could significantly expand institutional adoption of tokenized securities.

The announcement sent ONDO soaring more than 15% over the past 24 hours as investors welcomed what many view as another major step toward bringing traditional financial assets onto blockchain networks.

Beyond the immediate price reaction, the partnership positions Ondo alongside some of Wall Street's biggest names in what could become one of the most significant tokenization initiatives to date.

Ondo joins DTCC's tokenization initiative

Ondo Finance announced that it has launched the first tokenized stock representations based on DTCC tokenized entitlements linked to securities held through the Depository Trust Company (DTC).

The DTCC serves as the backbone of the U.S. securities settlement system, processing approximately $4.7 quadrillion in securities transactions during 2025.

Through the DTCC Tokenization Service, tokenized entitlements—often described as digital twins—can be issued against DTC-held securities and delivered to participating wallets.

Ondo's initial implementation covers Circle (CRCL) and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), allowing the underlying securities to exist in both traditional financial infrastructure and tokenized form.

According to Ondo, this framework enables securities to move between conventional and blockchain-based systems while unlocking additional liquidity opportunities and expanding their use across exchanges, custodians, wallets, and decentralized finance applications.

The company also confirmed it has joined the DTCC Industry Working Group alongside BlackRock, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq, and the New York Stock Exchange, placing Ondo among a select group helping shape the future of tokenized capital markets.

At the Ondo Summit, Nadine Chakar, Global Head of DTCC Digital Assets, outlined an ambitious vision for the future of U.S. capital markets.

Speaking during the event, Chakar said the initiative unveiled at the summit represents only the beginning of a broader transformation.

"This is just the beginning of what we believe...we will rebuild the infrastructure on the rails of the U.S. capital markets," Chakar said.

Market responds with renewed bullish momentum

The announcement immediately translated into stronger market activity for ONDO.

The token climbed more than 15%, making it one of today's best-performing cryptocurrencies. At the time of writing, buyers were attempting to reclaim the important $0.40 psychological level after several weeks of consolidation.

From a technical perspective, ONDO is approaching a critical breakout point.

The $0.395 resistance zone remains the final major obstacle before bulls can attempt to establish a sustained move above $0.40. Given the strength of the current rally and improving market sentiment, traders are closely watching whether buyers can generate enough momentum to clear this level.

All momentum indicators point to a bullish momentum continuation. ONDO is trading above key Exponential Moving Average and the token Stochastic RSI is yet to hit an overbought region.

Open interest points to growing trader conviction

Derivatives data also suggests confidence in the rally is increasing.

ONDO's open interest surged by more than $50 million over the past 24 hours, climbing to approximately $181 million at the time of writing.

Rising open interest alongside rising prices is generally viewed as a constructive signal because it mirrors the amount of open position at the current trading price.

The combination of higher open interest and strong spot demand suggests traders are positioning for continued upside following the DTCC announcement.

Tokenization narrative continues gaining momentum

Ondo's latest announcement arrives as tokenization becomes one of the fastest-growing segments within digital assets.

Financial institutions increasingly view blockchain infrastructure as a way to improve settlement efficiency, liquidity, and accessibility for traditional financial products.

By integrating with infrastructure operated by the DTCC—the organization responsible for clearing and settling the overwhelming majority of U.S. securities transactions—Ondo has taken a significant step toward bridging traditional finance with decentralized markets.

If institutional adoption continues accelerating, the partnership could strengthen Ondo's position as one of the leading platforms in the rapidly expanding real-world asset (RWA) sector.
