Key highlights:

  • BTC resumed its upward move as investors reacted positively to peace talks.
  • Mediators said negotiations showed great progress.
  • Reports also suggest the Strait of Hormuz blockade could be lifted.

The Bitcoin price climbed back above $65,000 after news of positive progress in the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran. The rebound came after diplomats said the encouraging developments could eventually lead to a peace agreement, which would subsequently ease the tensions in the Middle East.

At the time of writing, the BTC is trading at around $64,356, up 0.65% over the past 24 hours. The recovery came after the volatile trading session late last week, in which the Bitcoin price fell back towards $62,000.

Investors reacted positively to reports suggesting that both sides have agreed on a roadmap to reach a final agreement within the next 60 days.

Bitcoin price flashes green amid U.S-Iran peace update

According to BBC reports, the first round of talks between the United States and Iran reached a positive conclusion with what mediators from Qatar and Pakistan described as "encouraging progress."

According to the joint statement, the two countries agreed to continue their discussions through the week while working toward a final deal. The roadmap includes efforts to end the conflicts in the region and improve stability on key trade routes.

The memorandum signed by both sides reportedly includes plans to reopen the strait and ensure safe passage for commercial vessels.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi also highlighted some of the positive developments in a recent X post. He shared that the mediation efforts had delivered progress and suggested that restrictions on oil and petrochemical exports could soon be lifted.

These developments helped improve investor sentiment across financial markets. Apart from the Bitcoin price, spot gold went up by 0.74% to  $4,187 per ounce. This comes after it fell to its lowest level since June 11.

Market optimism helps BTC recover losses

The Bitcoin price recovery comes after last week’s downward retracement. Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded their sixth straight week of investor withdrawals. The total net outflows reached approximately $227 million at the end of trading on Thursday, amid the holidays on Friday.

The latest diplomatic progress looks to have temporarily changed that narrative.

Charts showed a couple of strong buying candles shortly after news of the negotiations was released.

Meanwhile, the negotiations are still ongoing, and a final deal has not yet been reached. Any setbacks in the discussions could quickly affect market sentiment, as past trends show.
